1 High-yielding castor varieties NBR-1, NBR-2 and NBR-3 2001 & 2011 Non-bloomy red castor varieties of high nutritive value. NBR-1 yields 12 MT leaf per hectare per year, 20 % above the traditional variety, while NBR-2 and NBR-3 exceed 13 MT — a further 11–14 % over NBR-1. Ideal planting seasons are March–April and September–October; certified seed only.
2 Platform rearing technology of eri silkworm 2005 Three bamboo-strip platforms of 1 × 2 m with a 1 cm² sieve, each holding 1,200 fifth-instar worms, accommodating 7,200 worms in total from 25–30 dfls brushed. Roughly three times the rearing capacity of tray rearing for the same space.
3 Intercropping in kesseru plantation 2010 Shade-loving intercrops such as ginger, turmeric, colocasia and chilli, with legumes for soil health, giving 47–85 % additional income over sole cropping and checking weed growth without affecting host plant growth.
4 High-yielding kesseru varieties HF 005 and HF 008 2014 Superior kesseru clones with the highest recorded leaf biomass. HF 008 yields 27.57 MT and HF 005 26.72 MT per hectare per year — 10.28 % and 6.68 % above the improved-package benchmark, and 37.85 % and 33.60 % above traditional practice.
5 Eri silkworm breed C2 2014 Improved breed with fecundity above 350 eggs, shell weight above 0.54 g and ERR above 85 %, giving 12–13.3 kg cocoon shell per 100 dfls against 7.71 kg from the traditional race. Rearable on castor, kesseru, borpat and tapioca at 25–32 °C and 75–80 % RH, needing over 1,200 g leaf per dfl. Susceptible to flacherie above 35 °C and 90 % RH in summer.
6 Improved collapsible split-type mountage 2014 Collapsible mountage of 90 × 60 cm accommodating 400 mature worms, from which 99.75 % good cocoons are harvested, free of the 10–25 % staining seen with traditional jali. Strips can be removed so the frame doubles as a brushing tray for 25 dfls up to the second instar. Negligible space requirement and very quick harvesting.
7 Eri egg incubation device 2018 Low-cost earthen pot dipped in normal water, which holds 2–3 °C below the ambient 26–37 °C of summer. Raises hatching from the prevailing 40–45 % to 70–75 % and helps maintain the basic stock of the C2 breed and other eri germplasm. Validated at REC Kokrajhar and at farmers’ level in SMV Dadhora.
8 Eri chawki rearing technology 2023 Complete young-age rearing package covering equipment, disinfection protocols, incubation, feeding technique and optimal environmental conditions, with economics worked out for 90,000 dfls per hectare per year. Validated in eleven demonstrations across Assam, Nagaland and Gujarat; yields over 20 % above conventional rearing, with synchronised larval stages, less labour and better pupae and cocoon quality. B:C ratio 1.83:1.
9 Loose egg production in grainages 2023 High-throughput, low-labour method of disease-free laying production giving synchronised hatching at brushing and more dfls per unit area. Needs less space and time, ensures consistent rearing and spinning performance, supports eri seed entrepreneurship and eases the spread of ericulture into non-traditional areas. B:C ratio 1.44:1.
The collapsible split-type mountage is recorded in the institute’s technology register under muga growing areas, though its stated capacity and brushing use refer to eri silkworms; the entry is placed here on that basis and requires confirmation.
